At St. Gregory Classical Academy, we view math as a living idea. A living idea, no matter the subject, conveys ideas that are true, noble, and beautiful. A living idea feeds the mind and soul in a way that engages both the intellect and the emotions of the learner.

We are proud to offer a robust and beautiful math curriculum that respects children as good thinkers! RightStart Math is a program that views each child as a thinker. It is a curriculum that cultivates the mind of a mathematician. As human beings created in the image of God, we believe that all people have a mind that can learn math.

RightStart Math does the following:

  • Each Lesson encourages students to face math challenges with perseverance, humility, and prudence.
  • Fosters the contemplation of beauty through experiences with form, unity, and harmony.
  • Incorporates engaging and meaningful activities and concepts that are interesting to children.
  • Helps students to express and discover great ideas, not only through memorizing, but also through a poetic experience which is rooted in opportunities to figure out the meaning of mathematical concepts.
  • Lays a foundation for advanced study; learning through experience, observation and sequencing.
  • Teaches students how to think not only logically, but also through patterns and experiences with wonder.
